Based in Dublin, Ireland, I am a professional translator with several years
experience in virtually every branch of the translation and language
industry. Having studied at Dublin City University and also at Universität
Leipzig I graduated from Dublin City University with an honours degree in
translating with interpreting (German/Spanish).
After this, I then spent time working in Germany as a translator for SAP and in Ireland
for several translation agencies, engineering and control systems companies,
computer and software companies in roles including translator, proof reader,
editor, web master and localisation co-ordinator.
Even before embarking on my PhD I was writing articles on translation such
as the use of
technology in translation, the clear and concise use of English in the
production of user-orientated texts and presented research papers at
conferences throughout Europe. At the moment I am pursuing a PhD in
translation, usability and cognetics at Dublin City University. Since
starting my PhD I've definitely become more of a prolific writer and have
clocked up a fair amount of publications. As well as being a
professional member of the Irish Translators' & Interpreters' Association,
I am the editor of the ITIA's monthly electronic newsletter, the ITIA
Bulletin. To subscribe to the ITIA Bulletin, click

Previous contracts have included such diverse areas as enterprise,
diagnostics, communications and data mining software, production planning,
electrical and chemical engineering, electronics, insurance, company law,
nuclear and gas power stations, environmental technology, industrial
coatings, coal mining, satellite communications, regional development, media
and telecommunications, marketing, railway engineering, websites, printing,
finance, stock markets to name but a few.
"...translation is more than just providing clients with documents in
another language - it is a service where we strive to do all we can to help
people do business, to communicate and share information. In other words, we
have to care as much about our clients business as they do themselves"
